These are the handouts from a joint short course I teach with Dieter Bergman of the IPC on Circuit Board Manufacturing and Signal Integrity Issues. My section is subtitled, Design for Speed. In this class, I provide a very brief overview of how the physical design and manufacuring issues of circuit boards affects the high speed and high frequency performance of the boards.  The DFS part of the class is covered in less than half of the 2-day class, but offes the most essential elements in how board design choices such as stack up, materials, layer assignment, via design and routing topology affects performance and what a designer can do to optimize performance.
