In this presentation, I review the four important SI problems that apply to gigabit signals. These are the important reasons why interconnects are not transparent to high speed serial signals. I apply the standard process to these problems: identify the problem, find the root cause, suggest the design guidelines and use analysis tools to help turn the guidelines into design rules.
